
Dr Lucy Arnold is a senior lecturer in contemporary English Literature at the University of Worcester where she is a specialist on the contemporary ghost story. Her research on contemporary narratives of haunting led to her long-standing scholarly interest in the work of Hilary Mantel. To date she has published one monograph, Reading Hilary Mantel: Haunted Decades, and a number of book chapters and journal articles on Mantel’s corpus.
Alongside fellow Mantel scholar Dr Eileen Pollard, Lucy organised the first international conference on the author’s work, hosted by the Huntington Library, California in 2022. Her most recent project, Hilary Mantel: A Critical Guide is forthcoming with Liverpool University Press in 2026.
